GOOD TO KNOW

A few answers
before you begin.

Can I convert a video to GIF without an account?

Yes. The free quick GIF maker lets you choose one video up to 250 MB, trim up to 15 seconds, preview and download a GIF. Exports are up to 480 px on the longest edge, at 5 or 10 fps, without a watermark.

When do I need to create an account?

Create an account or sign in with Google for the full editor: text, effects, multiple clips, custom canvases, ping-pong loops, longer GIFs, higher resolution, 15 fps and saved projects. You can carry your quick GIF video into a new project by continuing in the same tab.

Is my video uploaded?

Quick GIF conversion runs entirely on your device. Your source video is not uploaded. Guest conversions disappear when you leave or reload this page, so download your GIF. In the signed-in editor, media is uploaded only when you choose to use cloud features such as backups.

How do I make my GIF smaller?

Choose a shorter selection, 320 px size or 5 fps. Make another preview to see the actual file size. Sign in for additional color and dithering controls in the full editor.

Can I make a ping-pong GIF or add text?

Yes, with an account. The full editor includes forward-and-reverse ping-pong playback, text, effects and custom canvases. These features are not included in the guest converter.

How long can a GIF be? Does it include sound?

Guest GIFs can be up to 15 seconds. In the signed-in editor, the complete output can be up to 60 seconds, including reverse playback. GIFs do not include audio.

Where are my videos and projects stored?

Quick GIF conversion stays on your device and is not saved as a project. Download your GIF before leaving. In the full editor, edits save automatically in this browser for your account. Use Projects → Your cloud to back up the current edit and imported media, then reopen a copy on another device with the same Google account. Cloud backups are private and update when you choose to back up again. Clearing site data removes local projects, so keep your originals and current backups.
